Patrick McGoohan
(March 19, 1928 - January 13, 2009)

Best line ever! "I am not a number, I am a free man". Gordzilla and I have been fans of The Prisoner (1967 TV series) for a long time, proud owners of the DVD collection. Patrick McGoohan wrote, produced, directed and starred in The Prisoner. We were sad to hear of his death.

He reprised his role as Number 6 in an episode of the Simpsons in 2000.

Ricardo Montalban
(November25, 1920 - January 14, 2009)

We just rewatched Star Trek: Wrath of Khan, in memory of Ricardo Montalban, definitely one of the best Trek movies and so much of it because of Ricardo's wonderful performance. A wonderful actor, charismatic, and unforgettable. For those of you too young to remember Star Trek, or Fantasy Island, Ricardo Montalban did a guest voice on Family Guy and was the Grandfather in Spy Kids 2 & 3.

New rule for Shards of Alara Release!

Some of the keen eyed players may have noticed this bit of information floating around on the internet recently...

"Tournament Structure/Format: [for Shards release Sealed]
(basics about building a sealed deck (a tourney deck and three boosters) followed by...) Players must choose one of the five Shards and construct a deck using cards that share the same colors of the Shard chosen."


Once you remove the jargon from it, it states that each player (upon receiving their sealed deck) must choose one of the Shards (3 colour alliances) of Alara and can only play cards represented by those colours.

So no four colour decks, no funny splashes; just do what Wizards tells you to.

I'm personally miffed, however I'd like to know what you folks think. Fun wrinkle, or yet another terrible decision by Wizards?

Post-script: allegedly the release will also feature special "super" lands which tap for 3 different colours of mana related to your shard. No mana screw here, I suppose.

This particular rumour I'll only believe once I see it. (As opposed to the deck building limitations, which Wizards has press-released)

The eventide release will be held on Saturday July 26th and will begin at noon with registration opening at 11:30.

Free RPG Day 2008

Our first Free RPG Day was a great success! I didn't know what to expect so soon after D&D Day, but we had a lot of repeat customers from that day. D&D 4th Edition, Hunter, Pathfinder, and Tunnels and Trolls were among the games being played in the basement that day! Many people took advantage of the great RPG sales we had on during the day, making them 50% of our sales for the day!

Worldwide D&D Day, June 7, 2008

D&D Day was a great success! The morning and afternoon sessions were full, keeping our 5 DM's quite busy! Congratulations to Courtney for winning the door prize of Keep on the Shadowfell Adventure! Many thanks to all those who participated it was great to see the new faces! Our sales on 4th Ed were brisk and we sold out of Player's Handbooks by Saturday and sold out again of a restock on Monday. But never fear more Player's Handbooks are coming in today!

With the controversial release of D&D 4th Edition, Wizards of the Coast has moved worldwide D&D Day to June instead of November and L.A. Mood Comics & Games is the best place to celebrate being a "knight of the dinner table"! DM's are standing by, the morning session is full but there are few spots left in the afternoon, please call to reserve a place.
