Wild Nacatl has proved to be a powerhouse in Extended and Legacy Zoo decks. He was a pretty good man (cat?) in Standard too while he was legal, but not quite as strong without the Ravnica or Revised duals to power him out, especially when combined with fetch lands. Still, a pretty solid duder and I'll be looking to pick him up for my draft cube and EDH decks.

Christmas is just around the corner and now is a good time to get your wish lists ready. We still have a few Fire and Lightning premium decks left for the lucky few who are able to snag them. These decks are chock full of burny goodness from Magic past and are sure to make toast out of your opponents. Also, ask about the Jace vs. Chandra duel decks coming out this month. They are reprints of the original deck series with special new art from famed Japanese manga artist Yoshino Himori They are Japanese language only, and we are supposed to be getting a very limited supply. Try and reserve a copy quickly because these are hot and sure not to last very long.

Finally, I would like to announce that I am officially stepping down as the in store representative for L.A. Mood Magic sales and events. I am a bit sad to be handing over the reins, as I have loved being an active part of growing and cultivating our Magic playing community, but I believe that I am leaving this position in some very capable hands. Our new representative has a keen perspective on the game and basically life in general. He is a very approachable guy and a great person to bounce your thoughts and questions off of. I am confident that he will do an excellent job of taking over where I am leaving off. Please welcome Andrew Di Lullo as your new L.A. Mood Magic community manager!

Scars of Mirrodin has arrived and will pave the way for a creative deck-building period as Shards of Alara block rotates from Standard taking M10 along with it in its departure. With all these crazy new artifacts and new mechanics like infect and proliferate, what novel archetypes will rise to the top of the tournament standings? Only time will tell...
The FNM foil for October is Rift Bolt. A powerful tool in the hands of any burn or storm combo player. Again, battle with standard or draft at FNM this month to add this gem to your available grimoire. Please note that there will not be a draft on Friday, October 22nd for FNM. I will be attending Grand Prix Toronto that weekend and will have a stand-in to host the Standard FNM that night.
Finally, come and battle for loot and plunder (or tricks and treats?) at the Scars of Mirrodin Gameday event on Sunday, October 31st. Those in costume will pay a reduced entry fee and I'm sure that I will have some other tricks up my sleeve (and goodies!) to reward our intrepid Halloween revelers.

Exciting news for FNM players this month. We will now be running TWO concurrent FNM events every Friday. You can choose to play Standard OR Booster Draft each Friday, and FNM prize foils will be awarded in each event. There is no cost to play standard, and draft is still only 12 bucks for the 3 booster packs. The FNM foil for August is Krosan Grip. This is the perfect answer card for any artifact or enchantment and it cannot even be stopped by countermagic! Expect this card to be a staple in your collection if you are fortunate enough to get it. Sunday, August 15th is M11 Game Day! Bring your standard deck and compete for booster pack prizes! Finally, if you haven't joined the facebook group yet, the link is available at the right side of this page. I have a tournament in the works for later this month that will feature Archenemy!
