Core Set Magic 2013 Prerelease events!


It's that time of year again!  The new Core Set is about to be released and shake up Standard all over again. Titans are out - the new beef of choice is Serra Avatar!  Mana Leak is gone, but the old favorite Rancor is back!  Also back - the Shards of Alara drafting favorite keyword Exalted!


Like other Prereleases, we will be hosting draft side events throughout the day.  However, because of the official restriction on the use of product for Prereleases, these drafts will be $15 5/3/2/2 Keep-What-You-Draft Avacyn Restored drafts.  However, the booster pack prize payout may be claimed the week following as Magic 2013 booster packs at the winners' discretion.


L.A. Mood will again be hosting TWO Prerelease events for Magic 2013!  Details are below:

Core Set Magic 2013 MIDNIGHT Prerelease!

Format: Sealed Deck. 6 boosters of Magic 2013 are provided; from this, construct a deck with a minimum of 40 cards, including lands. The rest of your cards are your Sideboard for the duration of the tournament. Lands are provided.

Rounds: 3 Swiss Rounds.  The event will feature as many 8-man pools as are necessary to ensure the rounds do not exceed three.

Time: Saturday, July 7th. Registration opens at the end of FNM, approximately 11:30 pm Friday night. The tournament begins at 12:01 am on Saturday morning.

Cost: $25.  Sorry, but this event is cash only.

Rules and Enforcement: Regular REL.

Core Set Magic 2013 SUNDAY Prerelease!

Format: Sealed Deck. 6 boosters of Magic 2013 are provided; from this, construct a deck with a minimum of 40 cards, including lands. The rest of your cards are your Sideboard for the duration of the tournament. Lands are provided.

Rounds: Swiss rounds based on standings with a cut to Top 8.  Top 8 finishers out of the Swiss rounds will play in a single-elimination Top 8 bracket.

Time: Sunday, July 8th. Registration opens at 10:00 am, with the tournament beginning at 11:00 am.

Cost: $27.  

Rules and Enforcement: Regular REL.


This event will feature Feature matches with additional prize support!

As a concession to the size of the tournament, this event will feature a different method of ensuring the integrity of the decks used during the tournament.  Our prereleases will not feature pool registration.  However, decks will be randomly selected to undergo a pool check.  This check will be looking at both pool and sideboard for any obvious and glaring discrepancies.

There is NO Deck Registration. You are free to change the details of your deck in between rounds as much as you like, provided you are only using cards registered to your personal pool.

In addition to all of the above, generous prizes are available to our top-placing participants (Top 4 in each Midnight event, and Top 8/Top16 in the Sunday event based on attendance) and each and every player will receive a free promotional copy of the Rod of Nin.  Hey, you got your Howling Mine in my Rod of Pain!

Hello, Magic and L5R players!  M13 is fast approaching and L.A. Mood will be hosting a number of special events to help celebrate!

Casual Magic Wednesdays continue at L.A. Mood for the month of June!  Keep on coming out and play your latest concoctions in this unsanctioned casual format.

As a reminder, the formats for our FNMs are as follows:
