Hello, Magic players!  The schedule of events for August 2011 is as follows:

Friday, September 2nd - FNM!  Standard-legal deck required. 6:30 pm start time, no entry fee.  Special Announcement:  The winner of this Friday's FNM will also recieve a 2-bye redemption slip for the Niagara Falls "Super Magic Weekend" tournament on Septermber 9th - 11th.
Sunday, September 4th - Sunday EDH! EDH deck required.  12:30 pm start time, no entry fee.
ALSO Sunday, September 4th - L5R Constructed Tournament!  1:00 pm start time.
Monday, September 5th - Monday Night Draft!  M12x3.  6:30 pm start time, $12 entry fee, rare re-draft.

September's FNM Prize foil is the staple of aggre red decks everywhere, Teetering Peaks!  Beat some face with your foil peaks!

Also, a reminder that it's never to early to pre-order upcoming promotional sets like Premium Decks: Graveborn or Duel Decks: Venser vs Koth. All pre-orders will be honored and if any promotions are announced, they're always retroactively applied to existing pre-orders! It's a can't-lose proposition!

Grand Prix: Montreal Sealed-Deck Trial

Hello, Magic players!

L.A. Mood is hosting a GPT for GP Montreal at the end of August.  Grand Prix events are open tournaments with cash prizes held regularly throughout the year for Magic players not on the Pro Tour to share in the excitement and atmosphere of big Magic tournaments! 

Grand Prix Trials are held in stores in the weeks leading up to a Grand Prix to give players a chance to earn byes (free "wins") on Day One of the event, making it even easier to proceed on to the prize-awarding rounds on Day Two!  First place at our GPT will award three byes for GP: Montreal!

When: Sunday, August 28th. 10:00 am registration, 11:00 am start time.  Players will have 20 minutes for Pool Registration and 30 minutes for Deckbuilding prior to the start of the first round.

REL:  Competitive

Entry Fee: $30

Format: Sealed Deck Swiss Rounds with Top 8 Single-Elimination Draft.  Product for the Top 8 draft provided with entry fee.  Sealed Deck Swiss Rounds are 50 minutes per round.  Single-Elimination rounds are untimed; players are expected to maintain a reasonable pace of play.

Prizes: 2 booster packs per entrant are place into the prize pool.  First place finish recieves three (3) byes for Grand Prix Montreal. 2nd - 8th place finish recieve booster packs from the prize pool.

Maximum Participants:  50.

Magic 2012 Game Day Details!

Hello, Magic players!

Just a quick update with all the details for Magic 2012 Game Day, this Sunday!

When: Sunday, August 14th. 10:00 am registration, 11:00 am start time.

Entry Requirements: One (1) Standard-legal deck and sideboard. Decklist required.

Format: Swiss rounds with no cut to Top 8. Top 8 prizes are awarded based on standings after the Swiss rounds.

Prizes: All participants receive a copy of the participation prize: Stormblood Berserker.  Top 8 finishers will also receive a full-alternate-art foiled Dungrove Elder!.  (Apologies for the tiny sample art, best I could do)

In addition, Magic 2012 Game Day will feature $15 Keep-What-You-Draft 8-4 M12/M12/M12 Drafts!  All entrants into side events will receive an additional copy of Stormblood Berserker and the first-place finisher will receive a copy of Dungrove Elder! (while supplies last).
